Back in October, we saw a trailer for the brand-new Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. The trailer was a veritable treasure trove of information. However, while many fans were absorbed by what was clearly meant to be seen during the trailer, some were more interested in what was partially hidden behind UI. Now, a recent datamine of Pokemon Go game files has revealed what that hidden critter could look like.

The little creature in question, as stated above, was spotted behind the game’s UI in the trailer. Right between Reset Camera and Point Camera, fans with sharp peepers saw a little round grey head with two identical antennae. Since the sighting, we haven’t seen any more slips – so to speak. However, the data mine has quite literally blown the roof off of the tiny trailer reveal.

Thanks to a Pokemon data mining group called PokeMiners, who painstakingly searched through Pokemon Go’s game files. We now have what is believed to be a 3-dimensional asset of the mystery Pokemon. The 3-D asset clearly shows a little blueish-grey creature with a round head, short body, and long arms. The asset also shows two matching antennae protruding from the top of the creature’s head.

The new little PokeBuddy is listed as Pokemon #1080 within the game files and is one of the most adorable additions to the game in a while – based on the #-dimensional animation from the data mine.

New Scarlet and Violet Pokémon GO

We should see the little critter out and about within the game fairly soon as we’re close to the official Pokemon Scarlet and Violet launch. The new modes are expected to hit Nintendo Switch on the 18th of November.

In other Pokemon news, the developer behind the revolutionary get-up-and-go-outside pokemon catching game has made a series of decisions resulting in the increase of Pokemon Go’s in-game assets.

I hail from the awe-inspiring beauty of South Africa. Born and raised in Pretoria, I've always had a deep interest in local history, particularly conflicts, architecture, and our country's rich past of being a plaything for European aristocracy. 'Tis an attempt at humor. My interest in history has since translated into hours at a time researching everything from the many reasons the Titanic sank (really, it's a wonder she ever left Belfast) to why Minecraft is such a feat of human technological accomplishment. I am an avid video gamer (Sims 4 definitely counts as video gaming, I checked) and particularly enjoy playing the part of a relatively benign overlord in Minecraft. I enjoy the diverse experiences gaming offers the player. Within the space of a few hours, a player can go from having a career as an interior decorator in Sims, to training as an archer under Niruin in Skyrim. I believe video games have so much more to teach humanity about community, kindness, and loyalty, and I enjoy the opportunity to bring concepts of the like into literary pieces.
