The developers of Pokemon GO, Niantic, just released a new teaser video with many Pokemon fans very excited. In the teaser video, we see a Pokemon that hasn’t been encountered in Pokemon GO yet, and yes, it is an Ultra Beast. Could these extradimensional pokemon be coming to the game?
The teaser video was shared on the Pokemon GO Youtube channel and a few other platforms. The video title is ‘Something’s coming…’ and if that doesn’t give it away, the caption is even more of a tease by asking trainers if they’ve seen this pokemon and what’s going on?
The clip doesn’t give away any information, but we do see Nihilego, an Ultra Beast pokemon that looks like a jellyfish. Nihilego is one of 11 Ultra Beasts that we know of, according to the Pokemon lore.
The Ultra Beast pokemon were first introduced in Gen 7 and are extradimensional pokemon that travel through ultra wormholes. They are very combative and are attracted to others who’ve also traveled through these wormholes by picking up residual energy. Along with these Pokemon, we also met the Ultra Recon Squad, who come from a world beyond the wormhole, and their objective is to research these pokemon.
The teaser video doesn’t share any specifics, so at this point, it’s just speculation on whether we’ll actually see these Ultra Beasts in Pokemon GO. We also have no information on how the addition would work in the game at this stage. According to the lore, these pokemon can only be captured with Beast Balls when encountered in the wild, so we wonder if these will also be added?
We’re also wondering how encounters with the Ultra Recon Squad will work if they’re also introduced with the Ultra Beasts – which they really should.
We look forward to seeing more of this exciting development and can’t help but wonder if we’ll see these new additions at the upcoming Pokemon GO Fest in June. Thirsty for more Pokemon news? Go ahead and read this article on a fan-made remake of Gen 1?
